About this place
A natural stopping point after an evening at the nearby cinema or public baths, Toshimaen no Yuhi offers an inviting setting to drop into. The bright, clean interior is centred around counter seating, creating a relaxed, casual environment where solo guests can comfortably take a seat.
The menu features an array of small plates tailored for drinks. Among the favourites, the seasoned boiled egg with braised pork earns frequent praise for pairing tender, richly flavoured pork with a soft-yolk egg. Other thoughtful appetizers include crisp fried chicken karaage, dashi-rolled omelette topped with seasoned cod roe and cheese or salmon roe and grated daikon radish, and a smoked platter featuring mackerel and cheese.
Drinks range from medium bottles of Sapporo Red Star and draft beer to fruit-flavoured sours like acerola and baisu, as well as refreshing tea-infused shochu highballs. For a heartier meal, diners can turn to slippery chilled or hot green-tea soba, or a vibrant kaisen-don loaded with various seafood. Operating from 17:00 on weekdays and from 16:00 on weekends until 1:00 the following morning, it proves equally handy for an early drink or late-night dining.
